A Few of Our Favorite Places

We're often asked by folks to name our favorite places of all those we've visited. That's really not a fair question, because we have those senior moments and don't always remember everyplace we've been. But we have enjoyed almost every place we've been, and a big part of the whole experience is the life style itself.

We have a digital picture frame that displays a lot of the pictures we've taken in the three-plus years we've been roaming about, so we are able to see (and remember) where we've been. From all those pictures, we've chosen a few views and places we'll never tire of. No particular order here . . . . because we don't have to play favorites.

We saw a sign in a restaurant that read "If you're lucky enough to live near the water, you're lucky enough". This is the harbor at Crescent City, CA - as nice a piece of water as we've seen.

Almost anywhere you can see wildlife is pretty special. These are female elephant seals on the beach just off California highway 1, a little north of San Simeon.

Almost anywhere along the rim of the Grand Canyon.

Albuquerque at night from the top of Sandia Peak, 10,378 ft up.

Almost any drive-thru animal park.

Nothing much can compare with Mount Rushmore.

Wyoming's Grand Tetons are incredible.

Any of the hundreds of geysers in Yellowstone Park.

Bryce Canyon, Utah

Any place you see a Bald Eagle.

Niagara Falls from any angle.

Any direction from the top of the Washington Monument.

Almost any street in Colonial Williamsburg.

Fall colors along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina.

Anywhere the sun sets.

Merrit Island National Wildlife Refuge in Florida.

Shore Acres Gardens Oregon, with or without lights.

The delightful aromas of Hershey PA.

The Peace River near Wauchula Florida.

Bar Harbor ME from the top of Bald Mountain.

The view from Jan & Denny's deck in Longbranch WA.

Heceta Head Lighthouse, Oregon

Anyplace we both are.

  And we've only just begun.
